CAPABLE NZ offers suitably skilled and experienced engineers the opportunity to earn the National Diploma in Engineering (Level 6) with strands in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering or an optional Practical Endorsement Strand.
This qualification recognises the skills and knowledge needed for the application of analytical design, industrial design and laboratory and field work skills specifically in:
The Diploma will be achieved through assessment of work experiences and on-site study in block courses designed specifically for experienced engineers.
This qualification enhances your engineering expertise, and provides you with opportunities to advance your career, meet personal objectives or plan for further learning.
How will your skills and understanding be evaluated?
You will be assessed against unit standards which make up the National Diploma in Engineering (Level 6). Many of these unit standards can be accredited following an assessment of your own understanding and experience.
An assessor will meet with you to discuss the assessment process which is built around the presentation of key work projects that you have been involved in. You will be required to discuss and provide evidence of the skills and understanding you have demonstrated in these projects.
You will complete your Diploma by attending block courses at Otago Polytechnic’s School of Engineering. These block courses have been specifically designed to attend the theoretical aspects of the program which you may not have developed experientially.
Further programmes through the APL pathway are available through CAPABLE NZ in partnership with the Schools of Architecture, Building and Engineering:
